Where it all began

Lytham Antiques and Reclamation is managed and run by husband and wife team Gene and Zara Hoyle.

Over the past 45 years, Gene’s experience and enthusiasm has evolved considerably covering many aspects of the antiques trade, dealing in a multitude of items, from Fabergé to furniture and helping to instigate many pioneering antique and collectors fairs and events, dealing with both public and trade alike.

“To-date, there’s not a facet of the trade I’ve not touched” Says Gene.

It all began in the early 1970’s with Gene spending time learning his trade in his family’s antiques shop in the Northwest of England. 

Gene’s passion for the antiques trade soon became apparent and he started dealing at the early age of 17 specialising in clocks and watches, soon to realise his eye was becoming far more eclectic, he decided to broaden his horizons, expand his knowledge and start dealing in other antique and collectible items at the Monday Birmingham Rag Market, Camden Passage, Bermondsey Market, Portobello Market, then on to opening up his own antique warehouse in the late 1980’s. 

Gene’s diverse experience and knowledge has enabled him to work alongside many colourful characters within the antiques trade and on many projects including sourcing specialist antique items for TV & film props, country houses to townhouses, through to hotels, bars and restaurants.

“At this point in my career, I am enjoying sharing my wealth of experience gathered along the years with new, upcoming enthusiasts and collectors, dealing with regular clients and buying and selling items in order to help raise funds for Lytham Hall, which is part of our local heritage and close to my heart”
